OMG #2

Guess what this post is about. I had an accident a few days back! This is just a short post lar, nothing much to write about, just want to make sure I remember this event as a lesson, that's all.

It happened because of negligence. So, that day I was on the way back from KL, around the time when everyone rushing back from work. I was stuck in the jam and had nothing to do. The Federal Highway was so congested that cars were crawling at less than 10km/h. I couldn't stand the boredom and decided to switch on my data. Switching my gear to N, I shifted my eye-sight from the road to my phone and thought everything was just like a normal jam. While I was so engrossed replying some Twitter posts, I "sensed" some movements and switched my gear to D (without lifting my sight from the phone to see how far the car in front of me had moved) and...

"Paaaaaanng"...

As soon as I realized what happened, the car in front of me turned on the emergency signals, and the driver (who was a "Malay She") got down from the car (A Viva). I wasn't sure what to do, so I got down from the car as well. I walked over to the part where my bonnet "kissed" and ahem.. It was quite a serious dent (roughly an one-inch-depth kind of dent). She quickly snapped some photos and started calling someone. Then only I came to my senses that I should call someone too, my dad. She was already nearly done describing the entire incident to the receiver over the phone yet I was still on my attempts to call my dad! Argh.. Why was he not picking up the phone? I was starting to get nervous yet what was he doing lar?

Finally, after more than 10 attempts, my dad picked up! He asked me the damaged I've caused, both to that car and mine. Then did I realize, "Eee, how come the first thing I did was walking over to her car and not care about my own bonnet ar?" Luckily, my bonnet just had some slight bend, my number plat is still there, and the fortunate part is, the lights are not broken! According to my dad, around RM500-600 is needed to fix a broken car-lamp. So ya, both our lamps are still intact!

She then suggested to move the cars from the road, I mean, at least not to the extend to block other people's way. We were on the fast lane, so we stopped our car as sideway-to-the right as possible (but still blocked half of the fast lane lar). She told me that she wants a compensation of RM500 for the boot and RM90 for the bumper (eh, the bumper was still nice lor, zzzz). When I said I only had RM30 with me, she said, she wants to claim insurance, let's make a police report. I was like, "OMG! What have I done?!" It wasn't the first time I had an accident, but it would be my first time reporting to the police wey!

Ahem.. So, I passed my phone to her with my dad on the other side of the line. Suddenly, a traffic police stopped by, "leave the spot, the traffic had already congested enough, don't make it worse" kind of speech. She snapped my road tax sticker and demanded to see my IC and license (she wants to snap photo as well). I said, "let me snap the photos of your car first." Then, I quickly called my dad again and told him about her demand, and my dad said, "Who is she to see our IC and license? Only police has the right! Beside, who knows what does she have in mind after snapping your IC and license?"

So, as soon as the traffic police left, we exchanged our phone number and left the spot. According to my dad, she stays in Setia Alam, and we were going to meet her up at night to nego about the compensation. When I reached home, I just had my shower and skipped dinner because really didn't have any appetite for food. My dad was home late and we were one hour late than the time she proposed. Her husband didn't want to accept our terms, whereby, my dad promised to fix the bonnet for them. He wants monetary compensation of RM800 to change for a new bonnet! WTH!! A slight dent he wants to change a new one??! My dad tried to convince him the otherwise but to no avail. At the end, we agreed to make a police report and claim for insurance.

They are freaking greedy wey~~
My dad directed me the way to the police station located nearby the accident scene. It took us more than 45 minutes to reach there, and I was, hmm.. Not nervous, but felt numb. I didn't feel anything, my face expressionless, my heartbeat as usual. Seriously. I filled up the form, waited for the officer to call me and confirmed my description. Then, I had to let them snap a photo of my car as well. After all these had done, I reached home at around one in the midnight. Zzzzz..

Myvi is indeed slightly stronger than Viva.
Next time I should really buy a better car.
Luckily the car my bonnet kissed, wasn't some Japanese cars or European cars, eg Camry or BMW. Or else, I would have to compensate more. Wait, in terms of damage, I think my car would have lost the entire front part, whereby their cars would only have a few scratches.. Anyway, because of this accident, I realized my dad really loves me a lot. Though he appears to be very stringent on me, he sacrificed his sleep when he had an early meeting scheduled the next morning. I feel happy and I feel protected. Love you, ba. ❤

Sigh.. CNY is coming, hopefully I won't be so bad luck in this coming Horse year.
Singing off...
